Life Update: Denver!

This week’s post is going to be a bit less formal since I’ve been traveling all this past week, but after 24 total hours of driving, I have finally made it to my new home: Denver.

It’s definitely not an easy drive from Waconia, Minnesota to Denver, especially having to drive through Nebraska, but we made it and that’s all that matters. I’ve realized that I really don’t mind driving through most parts of the rural midwest like Iowa, Minnesota and Missouri because the towns aren’t so spaced out and there are usually at least somewhat interesting old buildings, barns or even towns on the sides of the roads, but when it gets to Nebraska and Kansas there’s just too much distance between things to look at. I think a nine hour drive from Missouri to Minnesota is much better than, say, a five hour drive through Kansas or Nebraska.

That being said, I think a 24 hour drive from Missouri to Minnesota to Colorado might be better than the 4-5 hour drive from St. Louis to Chicago. Man, is that drive brutal.

I wish we would’ve arrived early enough in the day to still have a little bit of sun so we could see the mountains on the horizon, but luckily I will be seeing them every day now. We did, however, have about a two hour sunset on our drive as we chased the sun across Nebraska. It left a nice trail of scarlet and purple clouds in its wake, so that was at least something of a pretty view over the infinite cornfields.

We arrived at around 9pm after stopping at In N Out for dinner, which I thought was more of a southwestern US fast food chain and didn’t know they had them in Colorado, but it was nice to have that as it’s been years since I last ate there.

I’m in the Lower Highland part of Denver, and from what I’ve seen in the 24 hours that I’ve been here, it’s a pretty nice area. There seems to be plenty of restaurants and coffee shops around, so you can expect plenty of the usual content (restaurant and coffee recommendations), except in Denver. The area also seems to be mostly filled with people around my age, or somewhere between 24-40 year olds, so that’s a good sign. We’re also a stone’s throw from the downtown area, so I’m sure there won’t be any shortage of things to do.

It’s only been two months since I decided to move to Denver, so especially the last few weeks have been full of farewells, last chances and goodbye hugs. But, one of my favorite (and most used) quotes through it all has been “Ready isn’t a feeling. It’s a decision.” I think that’s a mindset I’m going to try to implement throughout 2026.

The time that I’ve spent here so far has mostly just been unpacking all of my belongings, assembling furniture and trying to make this place my new home. I’m sure that most of my posts for the next few weeks might be about Denver since I’ll be exploring, trying new things, adjusting to this new city and writing about it all on here, but I’m excited to bring you guys with me along for the ride. Denver is a big city and growing by the minute, so I’m sure there will be sufficient things to write about.

In the meantime, if you want to see more content other than just these blog posts, follow my Instagram! I try to post on there as often as possible, and most of the time it’s more casual and fun than it is on here.
