Top Bars for a Chill Night Out in Denver – LoHi

If you’re looking for a nice and chill night out in the Denver area, I suggest you head straight to LoHi. It’s quieter than Larimer Street, and the bars are typically quieter so you can actually talk and hang out.

While these bars are a little more spread out than downtown bars, I’d say they are pretty walkable if you’re looking to bar hop and fine with walking a few blocks between each.

Bartaco

I’ve mentioned Bartaco on here before since it has some of the best drinks in LoHi, so you can check out that post here, but it’s a great spot to grab a bite to eat before a night out. They have great happy hour prices, and you can order some appetizers or mini tacos while you put down your first drinks of the night. It’s a great atmosphere, and their drinks with their freshly squeezed juices are unbeatable.

Happy Camper

Happy Camper is pretty much right in the middle of all of these bars, and I believe they have DJs on Friday and Saturday nights so it’s a great spot to end the night if you’re out on a weekend. It’s essentially a huge tent with plenty of room and they open it up in the summertime, so you really get to enjoy the nice summer weather.

Their food is also pretty good if you get there before their kitchen closes.

Highland Tavern

On a quiet corner on Navajo Street is Highland Tavern, the diviest-bar I’ve found in Denver so far. Coming from the Midwest, the drink prices here were pretty mind-blowing so this turned into something of a nice refuge where the drinks were super cheap and the atmosphere felt laid-back. They have plenty of screens if you’re looking to watch a sporting event, and the food isn’t bad either.

The High Lonesome

Right across the street from Highland Tavern is The High Lonesome, a cozy and dimly lit cocktail bar that’s surprisingly reasonably priced (for Denver) and a great place to hang out. It has a nice draft beer list and solid cocktail choices as well as a pool table in the back, making this a good spot to have a chill night out with friends. The service is also usually really good.

Recess

Recess is one of the most popular bars in LoHi, and it’s pretty busy most nights with a younger crowd. If you’re looking for a more crowded spot yet also a place to hang out and chat, this is probably where you want to be. This is also where heavier drinking happens, if that’s what you’re aiming for.
