Fall is upon us! With Halloween a week and a half away, I figured I would make a post with my top recommendations for things to do during the second-best season of the year.
Fright Fest
Although I’ve never personally been to Fright Fest, I’ve heard great things from all of my friends that have gone. Six Flags essentially transforms their entire amusement park into a Halloween scare fest, with tons of stuff to do such as navigate haunted mazes, explore different ‘scare zones’ all with a different theme, and watch live performances.
Haunted Houses
If you’re looking for the thrill of a good haunted house, I highly recommend either Creepyworld or The Darkness. I recommend Creepyworld because it’s a bit further out of the city in Fenton, but both are a good time. They’re run by the same company and they’re very similar, but either way you are in for a night of jump scares that will send you running. I recommend going with a group of friends so you can share the scare.

Night Lights Lantern Festival
I just went to this last weekend, and wow is it amazing. I’ve heard of a few lantern festivals in the STL area, but this one takes place at the Cedar Lake Cellars in Wright City. It’s in one of their open fields, and they have food trucks, live music, small vendors and the Cellars are within walking distance. The lantern part doesn’t happen until the sun goes down, but I highly recommend getting there as early as possible to explore the event, get a few glasses of wine, and take advantage of all that it has to offer.

Oktoberfest
Although it’s already come and gone this year, this is your sign to celebrate Oktoberfest next year and every year after. St. Louis has some great Oktoberfest celebrations, but the biggest and best one that I’ve experienced is the Oktoberfest on the St. Charles riverfront. It takes up the entire Frontier Park, filling it with food and drink (but mostly importantly beer) vendors and live music for a weekend. It’s a great time, and I’m not sure of any other places in the area that have anywhere near as big of a celebration.
Witches on Main – St. Charles
Witches on Main is exactly what it sounds like. Ladies from all over dress up as witches and spend an evening wandering historic Main Street, going from bar to bar, store to store spreading the Halloween spirit. You don’t have to dress up, but it is fun to experience, and the witches always bring a great vibe to the street.
As always, thank you for reading! Let me know in the comments if you have any other suggestions for things to do this season and follow the blog for a new post every Wednesday!
Have a great week!
