I felt like writing a post to fantasize about the trips I’m going to go on once I get some traveling money, so here are some of my bucket list trips that I want to complete before I die.
Alaska
If you’re a reader of the blog then you probably know that I love small towns, and I feel like Alaska has plenty of those alongside some of the best views and mountain ranges in the U.S. While I’m there I’d like to do one of those expeditions where you take a small plane to a more remote area and see some bears and moose, as well as hopefully see some glaciers if they’re still around by the time I get there.
Dolomites
If you read my 2026 bucket list post, you know that the Dolomites were on there. I’ve been to Italy twice, but unfortunately never specifically stopped in the Dolomites. I think it would be super cool to hike through the mountains and explore some small Italian countryside towns, so hopefully I’ll get around to it in the next year or two.
Germany for Oktoberfest
While I’ve lived in Germany on two separate occasions, I’ve never actually been in Germany when Oktoberfest was happening. I’ve been to Munich and the Hofbrauhaus, but I think being there while the celebration is occurring would be a much cooler experience. It also likely wouldn’t be so insufferably hot later in the year as it is in the summer in Germany, so it’d hopefully be much more enjoyable.

Iceland’s Ring Road
My original plan was to bike the Ring Road in summer 2025, but as you can tell those plans fell through. I wanted to get my bikepacking game up, so hopefully within the next year I’ll either get a nice bike or ditch that fantasy and just rent a car and drive it. Or maybe I’ll drive it then go back and bike it. Either way, I will be traveling the Ring Road or die trying.
Istanbul, Turkey
This is one of my lesser-researched bucket list destinations, but I think it would be so cool to visit such an old city with such a rich history. I think Turkey and the history of the Ottoman Empire is fascinating, and it would be super interesting to see that part of the world. They also that amazing hot air balloon festival that would be incredible to see, and I also really want to try some genuine Turkish coffee.
Japan
Japan was another place on my bucket list this year. While the move to Colorado has put those plans up in the air, I still hope to make that trip sometime in the second half of the year. And if it doesn’t happen this year, then it shall be done eventually.
I really want to see Mount Fuji and try some delicious sushi and ramen, as well as perhaps visit some Akira Kurosawa or Yasujirō Ozu movie filming locations. I would also likely return with an unhealthy amount of Naruto souvenirs, but that’s expected.

Running of the Bulls
This was another bullet point on my 2025 bucket list that also fell through. I think it would be a ton of fun to participate and actually run down the street, despite what my girlfriend thinks. It would be even more fun to run it with my equally-psychotic friends, so maybe I’ll be able to turn it into a boys trip.
