Well, would you look at that! A month has already passed since I’ve moved to Denver. It’s been quite the adjustment, but it’s finally starting to feel like home. I’m just excited for it to warm up so I can go hiking and camping.
Throughout the past month I’ve been keeping track of every single restaurant that I’ve eaten at in the Denver area and my thoughts on it, so strap in and get ready to be blessed with some great food and drink options.
Abbiocco Italian – Food Truck
We ate at this delicious Italian food truck when it was parked outside Zuni Street Brewing Company during trivia night, and boy were our expectations blown away. Their staff is delightful, and I highly recommend their ciabatta caprese – you won’t be disappointed. If you see this truck parked outside, I highly suggest you seize the opportunity to grab yourself some good food.
Avanti F&B – LoHi
One of the more popular places in the LoHi area, Avanti is a nice food hall with a variety of options and a great view of the Denver skyline. They have just about any kind of food you could desire, from German street food to classic Latino dishes to delicious American burgers. Whatever you want, they got it.

Bartaco – LoHi
Bartaco was definitely one of the standouts of this month. The food was fantastic, but the drinks were even better. All of the juice that they use is fresh squeezed, with multiple big juicers on the bar that they use to squeeze the juice directly into the shaker, so the juice literally couldn’t be fresher. It’s a great spot for happy hour or if you’re ever in the mood for thirst-quenching refreshments.
Their tacos are delicious as well, on small tortillas that make a nice bite to eat after a long day. I’m a die-hard chorizo fan, and I loved their chorizo tacos.

Cheba Hut
As I mentioned in my Madison, Wisconsin blog post, I am a Cheba Hut fanatic. So, of course, I was delighted to find that there are plenty of Cheba Hut locations in Denver. Call me crazy, but it’s probably my favorite sandwich spot ever.
While I’m not the biggest stoner, I do love the atmosphere of the place and the ever-unique murals on the walls that they have at each location. Every restaurant has a slightly different theme (i.e. the one by Sloan’s Lake is movie themed since it’s right next to a movie theater, the one in Centennial has some sort of ‘psychedelic Jurassic Park’ vibe, etc.) but their sandwich options continue to consistently blow my mind in the flavor department.

Dio Mio – RiNo
Dio Mio is cozy Italian joint in Denver’s RiNo neighborhood, and it’s what I’d call the perfect mix of casual and upscale. The food is delicious, the staff is excellent, and it’s a great place for a nice and chill evening dinner. I really enjoyed their house focaccia and their cacio e pepe.

Linger – LoHi
Linger is an upscale restaurant with a menu full of fresh new takes on classic Asian-style dishes. The ambiance and atmosphere of the restaurant is pretty high-end, with dim lighting and a mixture of old-timey and modern furnishings and decor, but that also means you can expect higher prices.
Personally, I’m not the biggest fan of Mongolian food or the way they serve their pork and duck on that side of the world… so I’m not necessarily the one to say whether the food is good or not. But if you’re into that kind of Asian cuisine, then I’m sure you’ll love this place. That being said, their Char Siu Pork Belly Bao (pictured below) blew me away. Their Hangover Ramen was pretty tasty too.

Moe’s Broadway Bagel – Speer
A Colorado classic, Moe’s is a fantastic Sunday morning bagel spot with great breakfast options both sweet and salty. It’s especially a great place to go after a night out to heal your lingering ailments, as you’ll feel much better after stuffing yourself full of tasty bagels smeared with delicious cream cheese.
They have plenty of locations around Denver and Boulder, and it’s a must if you’re only in town for a short while.

The Original – LoDo
The Original is a warm, somewhat retro breakfast restaurant that feels like an old-timey diner in the heart of McGregor Square in downtown Denver. If you’re looking for somewhere to have a nice brunch and perhaps indulge in some morning mimosas before an early game at Coors Field, this is the place to go.

Rico’s Pizzeria – Englewood
Rico’s was quite a pleasant surprise. It’s a tiny and unassuming pizza restaurant tucked away on Broadway Street in Englewood, and it may seem a little sketchy at first, but their pizza is delicious. I highly recommend their SOBO special, with the tiny and crisp pepperoni and add the ranch to dip it in.

Tony P’s – LoHi
Tony P’s is a nice bar/restaurant/cafe on a quiet corner in LoHi, teeming with character and filled with classic Italian movie posters. Their coffee and espresso martinis are incredible (at least when they’re made by Tony P. himself) and they also have some good dishes to munch on while you chill at the bar. We had their burrata with tomato and basil and it was a tasty dish to munch on while we sat at the bar.
We watched part of the Broncos’ final playoff game here and it was a nice gameday atmosphere – not too loud and crowded, yet still lively and enjoyable.
