Here you guys have it – my first coffee shop post in Colorado. The Highlands neighborhood of Denver is teeming with great coffee shops and cozy cafes, so this is just the first post of many. Prepare yourselves.
Bravo Caffe
Right next door to Bartaco on the outskirts of the busy part of the neighborhood is Bravo Caffe, a cozy coffee shop with lovely staff and casual atmosphere. It does have garage doors that I assume (I hope) open up in the summertime, so that would make it an even better place to hang out once it gets warmer. For the time being, though, it’s a great coffee spot to stop at before you spend happy hour at one of the numerous bars nearby.
Middle State Coffee
A very condensed coffee shop yet by no means lacking in character, Middle State Coffee is a small shop on 32nd Ave with great coffee and friendly staff. It’s very lively, very welcoming and has a very fun atmosphere, and if you’re able to find a place to sit then it’s a great spot to get some work done. Seating is very limited though, so it might just be the luck of the draw that determines whether or not you take your coffee to go.

Sapor Coffee & Concepts
Sapor is an unassuming coffee shop tucked into the bottom floor of an apartment complex on Speer Boulevard, but it’s not to be overlooked. It has a very industrial style, with lots of concrete and open space, but it’s a great shop all the same. The coffee is fantastic, it’s a great workspace, and their strawberry matcha is not to be missed.
Unfortunately, the place doesn’t have a whole lot of decor on the walls, as it would seem as though they may have spent their entire decor budget on the LEGO Star Wars UCS Millenium Falcon and UCS Super Star Destroyer hanging behind the counter. I’m not complaining though.

Steam Espresso Bar
This is definitely my favorite out of all of these on this list. It has such a great atmosphere, with lots of sunlight, hanging plants and wooden furnishings, and to top it all off it’s built out of an old firehouse. It still has the firepole, red doors for the fire engines, and an old-timey phone booth.
I’ve only visited their location on Tejon Street, but I’m sure their spot on South Pearl is just as good.

Thank you for reading! Hopefully this post has encouraged you to go out and support these local businesses and appreciate their delicious coffee. This may be the first, but it’s definitely not the last Denver coffee shop post to land on the blog.
