Top Bars to Visit in Manhattan

Since my past trip to NYC was only a weekend long and our first weekend away in a while, we visited quite a few bars. So, here is a list of the bars we visited and whether or not they’re worth checking out.

For anyone that isn’t a NYC native or isn’t from a big city in general, keep in mind that you’ll probably be paying multiple times what you would back home. Also, if you visit these places on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday, they will also be pretty packed since it’s the most crowded city in the US by a long shot. Just a heads up.

Due West – West Village

This is a nice wine bar spot in the West Village that gets pretty dang packed on the weekends. It was shoulder-to-shoulder on the Friday we visited, with very little seating, but it had a nice vibe to it. If you can get a spot to sit, I would say it’s probably a great spot to hang out, but otherwise it’s pretty tough to converse with how loud the place gets.

Ivory Peacock – Flatiron

The Ivory Peacock is a relatively fancy bar/restaurant with a club underneath it. We arrived later in the night after they had stopped serving food, so I can’t speak for the restaurant aspect, but we headed to the back of the dining area where we were admitted to the ‘secret’ club area. It’s a cool underground club with lots of space and seating, but the drinks are pretty spendy.

Nubeluz – Flatiron

This was easily the most high-end and fanciest bar we visited, and maybe the nicest bar I’ve ever been to in my life. It’s on the 50th floor of the Ritz-Carlton, and it offers the best possible view of the New York City skyline with a 270-degree view of the surrounding cityscape.

It’s an incredible spot for a date night or a luxurious night out with a small group of friends, but the price of the view is definitely included in the cocktail prices. Most of the drinks are $25-35 but honestly, I think it’s worth the price for the experience that you get. Check it out for yourself and let me know what you think.

Parkgate – West Village

While Parkgate was really busy when we went here on a Saturday night, it still had great vibes and a really nice atmosphere. It’s the perfect spot to hang out and grab a drink with friends, and I felt as though it somehow feels like a small-town bar surviving in a big city. Not sure if that’s just me, but I really liked the place.

3 Sheets – Greenwich Village

3 Sheets was a small saloon that we visited for a drink after seeing a comedy show at the Fat Black Pussy Cat (which I highly recommend), and it was surprisingly empty for a Saturday. There isn’t much character that stands out about this place apart from the fact that it’s a place that sells alcohol, so I don’t think you’re missing much if you skip this one.

Since there are literally a billion bars in Manhattan let alone NYC in general, I know I missed at least two, maybe three. Let me know in the comments which ones I missed, and I’ll try my best to visit them next time around!

As always, thanks for reading and don’t forget to follow the blog for a new post every Wednesday!

Have a great week!
