Munich is easily one of prettiest, if not the prettiest, cities in Germany that I’ve visited. On the summer weekend in May that I went, it was bursting with vibrant culture, beautiful architecture, and plenty of stuff to do. So here are but a few of my recommendations if you choose to spend some time in this amazing city.
Englischer Garten
Englischer Garten is a gigantic park in the heart of Munich, and it’s (in my own personal introverted opinion) perhaps the best place ever to people watch. You’ll come across locals surfing in the river, playing soccer, and lounging in the grass. This is the perfect place to go if you want some downtime and a nice place to chill, and it’s super nice to lay down in the grass for a quick nap.

Hofbrauhaus
The Hofbrauhaus is one of Munich’s most famous attractions, and rightfully so. I mean, what embodies German culture better than a centuries-old beer garden? The interior is incredible and although it is almost always super busy and super loud inside, it’s at least worth a walkthrough. Drunk germans are only so bearable.

Marienplatz
Marienplatz is one of the coolest plazas in Europe that I’ve been to. On one side is the absolutely stunning Rathaus-Glockenspiel, and on the three other sides there are plenty of good spots to eat, grab a drink and enjoy the view.

Residenz Munich
This former royal palace is a great place to learn about the history of Bavaria and see the art from the region that has survived through the ages. It’s an art museum with dozens of beautiful halls and rooms that you could wander for hours if you so choose.
I recommend saving this for a rainy day, seeing as most of the other places on this list are best enjoyed on a beautiful (preferably summer) day.

Regardless of which of these options you decide to partake in, I can almost guarantee that you will love Munich. It’s a beautiful city with lots of rich history and many different activities to enjoy, and (in my opinion) there’s not much to dislike about this place. But that’s just, like, my opinion, man.

Enjoy!
