It was March of 2022 when I first got the privilege of visiting Barcelona, and I had one goal and one goal only: see La Sagrada Familia with my own eyes. I had learned about it in Spanish class in high school, and had dreamed about seeing it for years.
But upon my arrival in Barcelona I was met with a city that’s much more than just that famous cathedral. Barcelona has incredible architecture all-around, with a fascinating city layout and many great attractions to offer.
So, without further ado, here are some places you should visit in Barcelona.
Dow Jones Bar
The Dow Jones Bar is an interesting and fun bar with a concept that you won’t find everywhere you go: the different types of beer are like stocks – and their prices are constantly subject to change, just like in a stock market. There’s also a massive board with the live prices of each beer.
So, say you order a specific type of beer at a price of €6, but as you and your friends drink, the bar sells less of that type of beer than they did before. This may lead to the beer being €4 or even €3 by the time you ask for the bill. But be warned – the opposite could happen as well. You could buy it at €4 and end up having to pay €6 or even more, so make sure you play your cards right!
As you may imagine, it could get frustrating if you keep having to pay a higher price for your beer than you did when you first ordered it. So, my suggestion is to just go along for the ride and enjoy the bar, since the experience isn’t something you’ll find in many other places.
Arc De Triomf/Ciutadella Park
The Arc de Triomf was constructed in the late 1800s as a gateway into Ciutadella Park when Barcelona hosted the Universal Exhibition. I haven’t seen the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, but if it’s anything close to this, it must be breathtaking. The park also has many other cool buildings, ponds and avenues to explore, so I recommend taking a gander through the park and taking it all in.

La Sagrada Familia
This famous cathedral is just something you have to see at least once in your life. It’s an incredible sight to see, with stunning architecture that you could look at for hours and still find something you didn’t notice before.
After almost 150 years of being under construction and being under the supervision of multiple different architects, you can physically see the different architectural time periods that this cathedral has been through. There are hints of Gothic, Modernism, medieval, and Catalan architectural traditions all built into this massive cathedral, and you won’t believe your eyes when you see it.

Park Güell
This is a really good place to wander. You could spend hours here just walking around and seeing all of the really cool areas that this park has to offer, and that’s exactly what I did. The park is also on a hill overlooking the city, so there are some really cool views to take in.

Sant Pau Recinte Modernista
Only a few blocks away from La Sagrada Familia you’ll find another incredible piece of architecture: the Sant Pau Recinte Modernista. Now a UNESCO World Heritage site, the former hospital has many beautiful pavilions and rooms that you can explore, and they’ll take you on a journey through Spanish history in the process.

Barcelona, as well as Spain as a whole, is a beautiful place to visit. With incredible beaches, stunning architecture and rich history, the country has it all.
