Unfortunately, even if you drink Guinness all day every day you will still need something of nutritional value in order to survive. Depressing indeed, but I guess that’s just the way she goes. So here are some food recommendations for your time in Dublin.
Breakfast & Brunch
The Bagel Bar Coffee House
Apparently this is a very well-known bagel spot in Dublin, but I only happened to stumble upon it because it was just a few doors down from the hostel I was staying at (Clink i Lar).
Nonetheless, it is well-worth the hype. The bagels are cooked to perfection and are a fantastic way to start the day. I tried a few of their different breakfast bagels, and I was never let down. Just be careful – the lines can get pretty long, but I would say it’s worth the wait in line.

A Goose on the Loose
This is a cozy, small brunch spot with delicious crepes. It’s also conveniently located a few blocks away from Saint Patrick’s Cathedral and Dublin Castle, so you can stop for a bite to eat when you’re seeing those places. The coffee is great too.

Alma
A nice, modern brunch spot with delicious Argentine cuisine (I know, why eat Argentine food in Ireland?! Because it’s delicious. Trust.). I got the Choripan Argento, and it was fantastic. Pair that with one of their iced coffees, and you have yourself a phenomenal meal.

Bambino
An excellent pizza place right in the middle of all the action, you can’t go wrong with Bambino. The pizza is delicious, but be prepared to wait in line. It’s quite a popular spot and both of the two times I was there the line was out the door and around the corner.
Xian Street Food
“Spice Bags” are a typical street food in Dublin that will blow your mind. The spice bags from Xian are absolutely delicious, with the perfect amount of spice and chicken cooked to perfection. Couldn’t recommend more.
But don’t let the name fool you. I’m not a spicy food person by any means, and it wasn’t too spicy for me. It has just the right amount of kick.

I can’t lie, I don’t have many dinner recommendations because my evening meals were often substituted by nights of heavy Guinness drinking. The Irish really don’t play around.
Either way, Dublin has some amazing food spots with a lot of hidden gems.
Pro tip: if you’re still in need of more Dublin food recommendations, or really food recommendations in any city, search on TikTok “Best restaurants in [City name]”. That usually comes up with some good options.
Enjoy Dublin!
